Last weekend Donald and I drove down I-30 to celebrate our anniversary in Fort Worth. Oh, it was good to get away. Especially for Donald. Having consecutive days off is much needed! We had a wonderful weekend filled with laughter, reminiscing memories – both recent and of years ago, enjoying just being with the other person, realizing that life is so much more full now with our dear abi, evaluating where our marriage is and how we would like it to grow, setting family goals, mainly being thankful.
Fort Worth was a great little city! (I mean no disrespect to those who call Fort Worth home in that – it is really a compliment!) We enjoyed how clean it was, how much live music there was downtown, the FREE museums, the restaurants – everything! We also really enjoyed being there because one of our favorite books of late has been “Same Kind of Different as Me” – which was lived in many of the spots where we visited!
Waiting for us upon our check-in to the hotel…fancy!
Eating dinner (with no time to be back by!) on Friday night – this cool little restaurant “8.0” with a fantastic patio with live music.
Goofy…
At the Fort Worth Water Gardens – right by our hotel – an excellent place for breakfast in the morning.
Around the Cultural District – the painting is Michelangelo’s first! It was very cool because the Kimbell owns it, and therefore we could take pictures!
Around Sundance Square – very fun section of downtown! (Oh, Donald is reliving our BBQ eating days at Risky’s Famous BBQ)
At the Historic Stockyards
Being the avid Amazing Race watchers (this was from the season where Chip and Kim won!) that we are, we had to compete in the Maze – and sadly – were schooled by it. However, Donald did get a sheriff’s sticker and I got a fancy heart ring for completion!
Checking out the stars of the daily cattle drive…
The cattle are driven every day down the main street twice a day. Quite touristy, but still fun to watch – especially if you’re me and think that these longhorn cattle are just beautiful!
Oh, we are so grateful to have had a few days to just focus on what a joy being best friends is. Love.

what a fun weekend!! Happy #4!!!
For the record... I won the amazing race stockyard maze thingy by 4 minutes! No worries though babe, you are so much more to me than someone who can finish a giant stockyards maze in 20 minutes. Really... I mean that.
What a fun anniversary get-away! I love the pictures - that must have taken a long time to load all of them on your blog!
