An Escape

Spring is  here – aren’t we all thankful.  I love having the windows open.  Good smells.  Apparently our delightful little kitty-cat had decided that we’d held him in too long.  It was time for an escape – again.  He’s done this more than once – but I don’t have a solution for it yet – well I do – it’s new windows.  But, that’s a bit of savings fund away…

So, I heard a weird noise and then the house was just a bit too quiet.  I walked into the study and saw our screen flapping.  And I found our cat down the street.  Silly Oslo.IMG_5737

Something is changing at 10025 Lanshire…

In an attempt to save some dinero, two weeks ago the Wallace clan took to the front yard and decided to seed the front lawn instead of buying sod.

The Trans-Texas Trip – Part II

(Yikes, this already happened 2 weeks ago - sorry!)

So, after celebrating as our sweet nephew was dedicated to the Lord on Sunday in Denton, we headed back to Dallas to do an emergency load of laundry and get packed for Lake Travis!

Well,we don't necessarily love DVD's for babies - but, I do love them while on road trips!  We got an awesome gift for Christmas - a travel DVD system for the car.  It was weird how much abi was fascinated by it!  Those folks at baby einstein really know what they're talking about.  (Apparently baby einstein is a mom's creation - why can't I ever think of things like that first??!!)  So, that was 45 minutes of super easy (and enjoyable) travel!

The Texas Hill Country is awesome.  So many ecosystems in Texas - I love that!  It is very easy to see why so many people desire to live near Austin.  We were so pumped to spend a few days at the lake with Donald's parents, Jenny& Brian and Josh!  We had rented a house and were ready for pure relaxation.  And the lake delivered.  What is it about water?  I find that being on or near water does my soul so well.  To begin mornings with a beautiful view of our creator's cleverness was such a blessing.

We were thankful for our tour of Texas – it is good to break up the “normal” of daily life.  Rejuvenation and fellowship – a delightful and crazy 6 days!

The Trans-Texas Trip – Part I

First leg of the journey: Dallas to College Station to Brenham to Dallas to Denton – all in 48 hours.  The weekend of March 6th-8th was a delightful blur in the Wallace household.  Donald and I left Abi for the first time (tear and grin – moms, you know what I mean!) and drove to the place of our beginning – good ol’ College Station!  The day was basically planned around eating and reliving memories.  We ceremoniously stopped at Shipley’s for some sausage and cheese kolaches and then began the drive through small Texas towns to Aggieland.  The rest of our day went something like this:

Swinging by the infamous and wonderful 409:

Driving by the 1616 B, how things have changed since the last time I was there!

(I was talking to my roommate from college, Katye, a few days before driving down to CS and we were saying how strange that four completely different young women live there now, with no idea or care who has lived there before them.  How lives were changed – incredibly humbling and amazing.)

Eating at Rumor’s – our first mini-meal, lots of eating happened this day!

Central Park, my favorite place in College Station, where I was first asked to be a girlfriend, and then a best friend for life.

Saturday was highlighted by us being able to celebrate with our good friend, Chris Gaines, as he was married!  It was a great event, and wonderful to see old friends who were a part of such a dear chapter of life.

The Potters are back in town!

We are excited that our good buddies, Steven & Jodee, have returned back to Texas from their world travels. And by world travels, I am not exaggerating. Started married life in the Ozarks of Missouri (thank you for a destination wedding - SO fun), left for Beijing, then went to Paris, and then graced Uruguay with their presence for the past 3 months while learning Spanish. BUT, as of today they are back home in Texas. Now, get yourselves up to Dallas!
