A mental picture to laugh at…

This is fast blogging – this just happened about 15 minutes ago, and I’m still laughing, so I thought I’d blog about it.

There has been this little black cat (NOT a kitten – just so you don’t think I’m a jerk later) around our house all day today.  Saw him this morning, and I’ve seen him this afternoon.  Well, he strolled right up on our back patio and sat in the corner.  Oslo, since he’s got a lot of territory to cover, HA – each window – didn’t see him.  So, I thought I’d help him out.  (Side note here – while I love animals, I love no cat as much as I love Oslo, and I also love animal interactions).  I opened the deadbolt – which sent Oslo sprinting to the backdoor.  Black cat: just staring at me intensely.  Next – I opened the door.  Oslo didn’t even see the cat – what a dummy.  So, the other cat took off (hooray for being intimidating, Oslo!) and Oslo ran after him – but only to the fence line, where he then rolled in the dirt (gross!).

Then I did it – I closed the door.  It was slow-motion agony, because I realized as I was closing it that I hadn’t unlocked the actual handle.  And of course, Abi is sleeping.

OK – be calm, go next door – Todd & Anne have a key – of course, not home.  Alright – call Donald’s parents – yep, out of town.  Donald will be home before they could get back from Florida.  AHHHHH!!  I just sat down and started to get a bit panicky – and then I remembered, when I got home I had opened one (only one!) window to get some fresh air in the house.  HOORAY.  So, I ran to the front of the house, yanked the screen off of the window.  And then the funny starts.  The window is about 3 1/2 feet off of the ground.  And I was wearing pants that still don’t fit me the same since abi.   I prepared myself, swung my leg up over the ledge, and heard a rip.  Now, I’m hanging out of our window with half of my body inside and half out – with cars driving by (just one or two) and laughing.  Then I pulled myself in – and the old window sill breaks away from the dry wall a bit – gotta love original woodwork.  Awesome.

BUT, I’m in.  And Abi’s still sleeping.

That's hilarious! I'm so glad you were laughing about it! I think I might have been a tad bit angry when I heard the rip. :-) haha
